Strange Brew

Music and sorcery. Somehow they go together. Music has charms to soothe the savage heart. Magic has the power to move heaven and earth--and yet those roles might be reversed.  When Lybecca, the most powerful witch in England, meets Andrew, a rock star who has just assured his success, she is enamored. Andrew soon finds out that when a witch is in love with you, the magic can get serious.  Is real love possible.? Can Lybecca reverse the damage she has done to herself? A trip back in time to seek out an old lover (and HooDoo magician) and to meet blues great Robert Johnson and expereince the harsh realities of the pre-civil rights South put these question in perspective.

The song by the early British rock group Cream began, "She's a witch of trouble in electric blue. / In her own mad mind, she's in love with you. / With you! What are you gonna do?"  As Andrew Cabot contemplates this question, he begins to see love forming and is introduced to a world he never knew existed.

This mind-bending psychosexual drama begins when Andrew Cabot, a rising 70s rock star with a penchant for the Blues, gets high with a mysterious woman who's "out of this world" -- more than he realizes. He soon learns that Lybecca is actually an ancient witch who, with the help of a former Hoodoo lover, has amassed so much power that she's attained nearly godlike status.

This is an exciting, fast-paced book that grabbed me from the star. Once you pick it up, you cannot put it down. I read it in one day because it is so good.
